Genuine or Fake ?

The Classic and Visa Prepaid CitizenCard designs comprise of CitizenCard and PASS logos and are unique to CitizenCards. Both cards contain security features and it is straightforward to check that the card presented is a genuine card.

The Classic CitizenCard

The holographic overlay is completely smooth and covers the entire card. Both sides of the card are UV-marked '100% Proof'.

1. The PASS hologram signifies that the card is a genuine UK Government-recognised photo ID/proof of age card.  Along with photo-driving licences, the Home Office and police advise that only these cards should be accepted as genuine ID.

2. The colour photo will confirm whether the person presenting the card is the lawful cardholder. Check also for the holographic overlay images that should run up the left and across the foot of the photo.

3. The age band (Under 12; 12-15; 16-17; 18+; 21+) confirms immediately if the cardholder is the right age. So (unlike driving licences)  there’s no need to calculate if the cardholder is 17 or 18+ from their Date of Birth.

4. Classic CitizenCards display UV (ultraviolet) markings in the form of two ‘100% Proof’ logos on both sides of the card. The UV marks can be seen with a UV torch.

5. The LEALTA logo enables cardholders to obtain CitizenCard Discounts.

The Visa Prepaid CitizenCard

The card contains indented text so you can feel that it's real.

2. The Visa 'dove' hologram on the card reverse proves that the card is a genuine Visa card.  Any 'Chip and PIN' machine will also confirm this, as will an EPOS swipe of the magnetic strip. The chip and magnetic strip will also confirm the cardholders Date of Birth.
