Under-age Booze Sales

18 May 2012

A store has been handed an official 'yellow card' for selling alcohol and cigarettes to an underage volunteer during a 'sting'.

The official reprimand for Drinks Direct Supermarket Ltd Langley High Street, came during a Slough Borough Council licensing sub-committee meeting.

The firm could have its licence revoked if it does not comply with conditions, which include CCTV to be installed and staff trained on how to use it.

The case came before the committee on Thursday April 26th, because community wardens had identified a large number of alcohol bottles thrown into bushes, and smashed in the play area in Langley Memorial gardens, which matched those sold at the off-licence.

Drinks Direct was given a written warning in 2008 for selling counterfeit vodka, condoms and batteries as well as illicit vodka and imported cigarettes.
